Howdy from Texas!

As we step into a new year, I want to share a brief update on my plans for 2025. God has been so faithful in leading me through incredible experiences in 2024, and I’ve reflected deeply on all that He has done. You can find my full reflections in the attached PDF, where I share how God moved through the seven nations I traveled to and how He has been working in my heart.
Updating Plans
Bible Upcoming Projects

I plan to fly to the last nation, Gambia, to support the Global Partnership team with the Bible project. After that, my work with them will be complete. I feel at peace knowing God has revealed His purpose for me in blessing this team.

I thank God for connecting me with Adan during our first encounter in Sweden, which ultimately led to my involvement with his team across West African nations. It will be bittersweet to finish this precious work.

Gambia: January 20–January 31
Exciting Short Trips

After Gambia, I will return to Texas with the African dresses that my friend from Benin will bring to Gambia while we work together on the Bible translation project there. It’s a wonderful plan for me to take them back with me. During my continued furlough break, I will ship the dresses to Hadassah’s bridesmaids so they can prepare for her special day. I will stay in Texas for a few weeks until February 28, when I will fly to Iowa to stay with the dearest Analco family. Kari, her host daughter Payton, and I will have the opportunity to take a road trip to Minnesota to visit the DeafBlind church there. This church has been faithfully supporting me in missions since early 2024, and I feel it’s important to be present with them to strengthen our relationship. We will stay in Minnesota from March 7–11 before returning to Iowa.

Additionally, I will join a road trip with the Analco family to Amarillo, Texas, on March 13 to celebrate the wedding of my dear sister and friend, Hadassah, who will marry Mason on March 15! I am honored to be her bridesmaid and am so excited to join in celebrating and witnessing their special day.

Equipping for Restoration

You may remember from my previous newsletters that I recently completed one of the counseling courses. I now feel led to attend another counseling course, a healing ministry school, which will last two months.

This decision is rooted in how God has consistently revealed themes of restoration, healing, transformation, and redemption through Christ. I believe He is equipping me to serve others more deeply by addressing areas of brokenness and pointing them to Christ’s healing power.

I will fly to California on March 17 and finish the school on May 23. During this season, I trust that God will reveal clearer plans for what He wants me to do next after completing the school.

Two years ago, God connected me with two beautiful sisters for a powerful purpose that I will share in His perfect timing. Araya, the founder of Sonshine Interpreting, and a dear YWAMer with a heart for interpreting ministry, have stepped into this trailblazing journey with me. Together, we have been reaching out to people willing to volunteer as interpreters for me during the school. Their commitment has been a tremendous blessing.

This ministry opportunity comes with unique challenges, including interpreting needs. Would you prayerfully consider supporting this vital work? You can help by donating air miles for interpreter travel, contributing financially toward interpreting costs, or even volunteering to serve as an interpreter during part of this nine-week school. Most importantly, please join us in praying for God, who is able to do the impossible, to provide the interpreters needed for this season.

If you make a donation for interpreting, please email Araya at Araya@sonshineinterpreting.com to notify her. Additionally, if you are interested in volunteering as an interpreter for a week or more, please email her as well—it would be such a blessing!

Donations can be made through Sonshine Interpreting via her husband’s nonprofit, Jeramy A. Williams: Outreach, Inc.

Seeking God's Guidance

Looking back, I thank God for using me to bring His light to the nations I’ve traveled to over the years. As much as I love challenges, I must admit that traveling has been one of my toughest experiences, deeply affecting my energy. Navigating different environments, managing with less accessibility, adjusting to new cultures, and the difficulty of remembering languages I had to pick up again have all been significant challenges. I often traveled alone to meet people I had already connected with in various nations, and I humbled myself to allow God to show His strength through my weakness, all for His glory.

I praise God for His provision and the strength He gives me. I thank Him for what I have and for teaching me contentment. With what He provides, I remain grateful.

After seven years of nomadic mission work, I began to sense God’s gentle guidance leading me into a new season of settling down to focus on spiritually investing in one place. In 2025, I started leaning into Matthew 7:7: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” I’ve been praying and seeking God’s guidance for the right door to open where He wants me to establish roots and serve.

While I remain open to some travels in the future, my heart is shifting from the extensive mission work of the past to a season of deeper, more focused investment in one place. I trust God to lead me step by step in this journey. I thank Him for giving me the opportunity to stay in the USA for a bit as I finish school in California. I believe that, in this season, God is bringing all the puzzle pieces together to reveal a clearer plan for what’s ahead. Please join me in prayer as I prepare for these exciting opportunities and seek God’s guidance in this new season.

Please take a moment to read the attached PDF. I pray it inspires you as much as it encouraged me to look back on His faithfulness.

Thank you for standing with me through your prayers, encouragement, and support. Your partnership in this journey means so much to me, and I am grateful for each of you.

In His Praise,

Kevlasha Humphrey
