SAINT PAUL, Minn. — St. Paul motorists - consider this your warning. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) will repair nine bridges over Interstates 94 and 35E in St. Paul this summer, causing closures during weekend traffic.

Construction will begin this weekend with an eastbound closure of I-94. The interstate will be shut down from Hwy 280 to I-35E between 10 p.m. on Friday, June 27 and 5 a.m. on Monday, June 30, according to a MnDOT press release.

Motorists can take north Highway 280 to east Highway 36 to south I-35W to return to I-94.

The Marion Street Bridge over I-94 will be closed from July 7 to Sept. 26. Construction will also take place on bridges at Jackson Street, Robert Street, Minnesota Street, Cedar Street, Wabasha Street North, 10th Street West, Western Avenue North and the Fifth Street ramp.

After the summer concludes, the work will not. MnDOT workers will replace the John Ireland Boulevard bridge over I-94 in October following the Twin Cities Marathon.
